I worked a good portion of my life as a janitor; cleaning houses, business, and historical buildings. I went on to be a customer service representative for Chevron Incorporated before going back to school. My first library job was patron services at the circulation desk, maintaining copiers, and shelving materials at Antelope Valley College. My next library job was in the systems office in the Henry Madden Library on the Fresno State campus. I answered telephones, performed computer and printer repair, resolved service requests, set up computers with Windows XP and security, and carried out some network management. I also installed and configured specialty software for library staff. I then transferred to technical services where I prepared books for the shelf and learned book repair. While in technical services I was still able to help with minor computer problems. In addition to my work duties, I volunteered to design a database for the Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children`s Literature to track donor information and donations, which by the way, they are still using twelve years later. After graduating from California State University, Fresno I moved to Northern Nevada to be with my family. I continued my education at San Jose State Universtiy and began attending Truckee Meadows Community College. At TMCC I received an associate’s degree in applied science in Networking and Server Technologies; and I received my Masters in Information and Library Science from SJSU. In addition to going to school, I ran the A+ lab at TMCC for five year. During that time I was also adjunct faculty teaching Information Systems 101. I love teaching and computers, so it is a natural fit for me to do technical support at my current job.
