ELISA PAPADIS is an academic who published a paper in 2023 entitled Effects of decarbonization measures on the electricity and heat sectors. ELISA PAPADIS published this work as part of a team: Papadis, Elisa. Here is a description of this work: The electricity sector in Germany needs to transition to climate neutrality with an intermediate target of 80 % renewable energy share in gross electricity generation by 2030. Although the decarbonization of additional sectors, like the heat and industry sectors, is scheduled for 2045, the measures are closely linked to the electricity sector. They are expected to influence each other mutually. This thesis examines the consequences of various decarbonization technologies and measures on the electricity market in the medium term until 2030 in Germany. Different flexibility options, like power-to-heat, water electrolysis (power-to-gas), and thermal energy storage, are implemented within a fundamental electricity market model. The effects of the integration are examined individually on future electricity prices, energy carrier share, electricity demand, CO2 e.
