Overview (TL;DR) Mature, Tech-obsessed student of life, seeking knowledge and the sharing of knowledge with all in need. I don`t have much of an SO Reputation because when I find a problem, I research it`s context, possible solutions, test variations, and implement the optimum case for the situation. This rarely leads to asking for help beyond the community`s collective experience, but when it does, I tend to believe that I`m on my own, so I then go exploring the situation for myself and repeat the research XP-style (Xtreme Programming, not Windoze!) until I have the makings of an answer myself, or at least a revised strategy. In the beginning First grounding in tech was in the UK with the Sinclair ZX-81 in 1981, finding programming and systems analysis early, then investigating the architecture of the ZX-Spectrum and it`s Interface-1 for budget networking in 1984. Contemporarily, I also came into possession of sales catalogues for the DEC Alpha processor clusters and their hardware and very quickly became engrossed in the idea of big systems like the Cray XMP. Launch Then took a computing A-Level to earn a B grade and according to all opinions, my life course was set upon computing analysis and took to a BSc in computing, then a career in Mainframe Computer Operations, working for an investment services group in South London ( cough Croydon cough ) supporting their Hitachi 3090 clone running MVS/ESA with TSO/ISPF on a bunch of hard drives through a dedicated link from London to Andover, supporting overnights with a laptop over dialup, managing project implementations with JCL, TMS, CA7 and CICS integrations, then moving to Cap Gemini in Vauxhall supporting the same company as a client along with a handful of similar clients and packages, then some contracting work for Chase Manhattan Bank in Bournemouth before succumbing to the onslaught of PCs and the internet. Administration I took a role as sysadmin for an SMEs LAN of about 40 desktops and 2 servers, and rebuilt their architecture from modems and hard landlines to single point of entry and a digital switchboard, initiating automated maintenance and support, ironing out major and minor flaws in the IT infrastructure. Striking out Since gone my own way, finding tasks and incentives away from IT to better build my understanding of uses outside of finance and industry, now living in Thailand and building an IT business on the side as a shell for personal projects.
