Information acquired: 2023
Current Employment: Currently working as a Junior Developer, Support Officer and Analyst at a small start-up Cauldron inc. which produces a top online behavioural Science research platform: is a browser based software which allows behavioural scientists and market researchers to build and deploy research studies, and then collect data from participants across the globe. Future Direction and Self-Learning: I`m constantly looking to further my coding skills. I`m aware there is a lot I don`t yet know and I feel I am very much at the beginning of my career requiring input from a senior developer to point me in the right direction and teach me the `tips and tricks` of the trade! While the diverse nature of my current job allows me great impact into the design and creation of new features for the Gorilla Platform, it grants little time for pure learning of new coding skills. The upshot is that I have gained a lot of practical experience of working in an existing code base and framework, implementing new features and fixing existing bugs in a pragmatic and quick manner. However, there are many other `tech packages` I am eager to learn about, like React.Js and mobile app development. As such I study a lot in my own time: Recently I have been learning about Data visualisation using D3 via https://freecodecamp.org. I`m currently undertaking 2 Udemy courses on Java and Android (Kotlin) development which I am enjoying and extremely interested in learning more. My ambition is that in a few months time after completing these courses I will be able to start creating and publishing my own android apps both for personal and public use. A little about how I work: I love problem solving, thinking outside the box to find effective solutions to problems, no matter what type shape or size, problem solving is a real passion for me. I also take into account the `big picture` asking `what solution can we find now, which will save time and money down the line`. In a small company finding efficient solutions and knowing when best to employ them and what to prioritise is vital in keeping the company sustainable. I also love data, crunching numbers and reducing this down to provide insights for which steps should be taken next. Which process, if implemented, would save us and the company the most time, money or pain. What does the data say we should be prioritising? The impact of this is to prevent a lot of time and money being wasted on changes that aren`t actually needed or effective. However, understanding the `why`- when the data doesn`t always stack up with how people `feel` - is equally important and can sometimes require tactful negotiation skills.
